It was a dynamic weekend in Barcelona as Playtech's Poker Network, iPoker, celebrated
the opening of the Spanish market and hosted the highly anticipated live event iPOPS. The
event, a series of tournaments with a total guaranteed prize of $1M and a low buy in,
brought players from all over the world to Gran Casino de Barcelona.
The iPOPS main event began online on May 6th when 2,480 players participated for as
little as $135 with a total guaranteed prize of $1/2M.
The tournament was paused at the last 3 tables, at which point the final 27 players
were invited to Barcelona to finish in a live event. The winner was Canadian player Jesse
Rockowitz from William Hill Poker, who took home $100,000.
The players enjoyed a EUR1,800 elite package with 4 nights at the Luxury Arts Hotel
and all expenses paid. To kick off the weekend, iPoker welcomed everyone with their guests
to an exclusive cocktail party at the Sal Cafe restaurant on June 1st, setting the tone
for the action-packed few days to come. Due to its growing popularity with players, the
sixth iPOPS event is scheduled to take place later this year.
